Sexual reproduction sexual reproduction,  the production of new organisms by the combination of genetic information of two individuals of different sexes .              Mitosis and meiosis Meiosis is the type of cell division that creates eggs and sperm. Mitosis is a fundamental process for life. During mitosis, a cell duplicates its entire contents, including its chromosomes, and divides to form two identical daughter cells. Profase: Prophase is the first phase of the mitosis process of a cell. This phase begins with the formation of chromosomes. Previously, DNA was coiled in a "tangle" called chromatin, which in this phase is "ordered", condensing into the structures we know as "chromosomes". Metafase: During metaphase, the chromosomes, attached by their centromeres to the microtubules of the mitotic spindle, are drawn to the equator of the cell, forming what is known as the "equatorial plate."    Cellular reproduction Our cells reproduce so that we may grow and regenerate. For example, cells are constantly duplicating so that our nails and hair keep growing. The process: The process by which a cell splits into two genetically identical copies is called mitosis . To achieve this, the cell must first make a second copy of all the DNA in its nucleus. DNA is then condensed into rod-like structures known as chromosomes. Both copies of the chromosomes stick together in the middle, which is why they look like an X under the microscope. Characteristic: For the reproduction and perpetuation of species it is used by unicellular ones It is made up of 2 parts: division of the nucleus and division of the cytoplasm The process by which a cell splits into two genetically identical copies is called mitosis .
